About Us

Welcome to our home! Fashioned after a Victorian home that was built in 1888. Our painted lady, Victorian home is nestled in a little, “sleepy hollow” between Gentry and Siloam Springs, Arkansas. We have beautiful grounds – over four acres with century old trees and a picturesque gazebo. You’ll find plenty of spots to enjoy the view. From the front porch you can watch the world go by. Or tuck away with a book and a cup of coffee on the side of the house, or around back or in the gazebo. Porches, porches! So many porches!

Fabulous history! We had a civil war skirmish take place on our grounds! Our southern border is on the Trail of Tears. We’re across the street from a creek and park with walking trails. Keep an eye out for our upcoming blog posts for more information on local history, authentic stories of what happened here and wonderful things to do and see in the area or within a short drive.

From the turret and porches on the exterior to all the amazing details inside, this home was built with your comfort and vintage fantasies in mind! When you step inside, you’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time! So many luxury features including heavy entry doors with custom-made, stained-glass inserts, terrazzo tiles in the entry, crown molding, rosettes in the corners of the carved wood door frames and turned spindles on the staircases.

We put the small in small town. Our town has less than 4,000 residents and although we’re 14 miles from Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) you’ll only have one stop light on the way here. You might also have a stop sign depending on which way you come. Instead of traffic you’ll see a lot of nature – pastures, woods, curves in the road, cows and perhaps a horse or two. But we have the best of both worlds being close to the corridor – Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville. Great shopping, fantastic restaurants, world class museums, and so many other things the “big city” has to offer! Located in the northwest corner of the state – we’re only 7 miles from Oklahoma and 20 miles from Missouri.

We have some large, local companies – like McKee (aka Little Debbie – there’s a company store just down the road) and La-Z-Boy. Educationally we’re blessed with John Brown University and Ozark Adventist Academy. Just a few miles east of us is Bentonville, the home of Walmart. And we can’t forget other business giants like JB Hunt and Tysons that are located in our neck of the woods. You could stay with us for a Razorback game – GPS mapping shows it’s just 35 minutes* to the University of Arkansas stadium.

* Traffic may increase drive time.

We have lots of natural beauty here as well. Some critters you’ll find on our grounds – birds and squirrels are frequent visitors. We encourage them with tasty treats. You also might see opossums, racoons and more – no telling what could wander by from the nearby creek. And, of course, our winged friends like hawks and owls. Bald Eagles are seasonal visitors in this area – hanging out locally from late November through early March. Eagle Watch Nature Trail can be a great place to see them. And there’s the park across the street (Flint Creek Nature Trail), the Chesney Prairie Nature Area, the Siloam Lake and state parks, like Natural Falls. We have a lot of options in the area for hiking trails, just viewing nature and more. Keep an eye out for more things to see and do on our Your Trip page.

Although our Victorian home looks incredibly old, it was actually built in 1998! This home was the result of much planning and a diligent hunt for materials! Gary and Dianne Affolter designed and built our spectacular home! Cedar and redwood are the main components. Extra thick walls, antique dressers used as sink stands, crown molding, and scalloped, architectural shingles. So much attention to detail! Most of the carpeted areas have borders of a different carpet or wood. You’ll see beautiful walnut inserts in the wood floors. Dianne actually made the stained-glass doors and the custom tiles you’ll see in Drago’s Orchard Room. Their attention to detail and design can still be seen in every room!

Each guest room has its own personality. From spacious, rambling rooms to cozy and intimate – the size, decor and nature of each room has a different charm and appeal. The bathrooms are each so unique and designed to match the room – from spa-style, jetted tubs to enamel-coated, cast-iron, claw-footed tubs with brass, over-the-tub showers. Giant antique, multi door and drawer buffets for sink stands to tiny porcelain pedestals, no two rooms or bathrooms are the same. Every room is private and has its own private bathroom. Whichever one you choose we’ll work hard to make sure you enjoy your stay!

Plus, there are many shared amenities! As you enter, you’ll see the sitting room. There’s comfy sofas and chairs – plenty of space to sit and chat with your own party or other guests. Massive full-length windows let you take in the natural beauty outside and when the weather’s chilly there’s even a cozy fireplace with an antique mantel. On the main floor you’ll also find the guests’ snack room. You have access to a shared refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, hot/cold bottled water, Keurig coffee maker, teas, hot chocolate and snacks, like freshly baked cookies. Then the main dining room where you’ll be treated to a homemade breakfast every day of your stay! Oh, and did we mention the porches? Front, sides, back, they’re wrapped around here everywhere! Lots of sitting places – chairs, tables, covered or not!

Come see us! We’d love for you to stay with us so we can show you around!
